Perspective
“DIRTY COP TAKES OFF WITH SIX POUNDS OF MY PRODUCT, WINDS UP DEAD, I’M NOT JUST GONNA LEAVE IT, ALRIGHT?” – RYAN
Project
Funded by Sky Scholarships, ‘Perspective’ was an interactive short film project, for which I was commissioned to write the screenplay.
The story follows a group of mourners at the wake of a murdered policeman, an sees the audience attempt to discern which amongst them is the culprit. Action occurs in multiple rooms simultaneously, each captured by a separate camera feed. The viewer can then switch between these camera feeds in real time, showing them a different path through the narrative, ensuring no two watches will be alike.
“Perspective has been by far my most challenging project to date; the importance of entrance and exit timings meant I needed to keep a close eye on every individual scene, to ensure they all ran to the same schedule. Due to the nature of the project, everything had to be recorded concurrently, in a single take, and so it was paramount that everything happened at exactly the right time. This process took almost as long as writing the script itself, but I am happy to say the final result was a smooth, seamless piece of creative filmmaking.”
